Brett Ligon, former Montgomery County District Attorney, secured a commanding victory in last
night’s Republican primary election, earning more than 75 percent of the vote and becoming
the Republican nominee for Texas Senate District 4.
Ligon thanked voters across the district for their overwhelming support and pledged to bring the
same servant-led leadership and commitment to public safety that has defined his career.
“I am deeply honored and humbled by the confidence voters placed in me,” said Ligon. “Public
service has never been about titles. It is about protecting people, standing up for what is right,
and making sure families feel safe in their homes and communities. That has been my mission
as District Attorney, and it will be my mission in the Texas Senate.”
Ligon emphasized that public safety will remain his top priority, noting that the challenges
facing Texas communities go far beyond traditional crime.
“Public safety means more than enforcing the law,” Ligon said. “It means protecting our
communities from violent crime, securing our border, defending Texas children from online
predators, and addressing the flooding that threatens families, homes, and businesses across
our region. Flooding is not just an infrastructure issue. It is a public safety issue, and it must be
treated that way in Austin.”
Texas Senate District 4 includes Chambers, Galveston, Harris, Jefferson, and Montgomery
counties, and Ligon pledged to represent each community with equal dedication.
“This district stretches across five incredible counties, each with its own needs and priorities,”
Ligon said. “I will make sure every one of them has a voice in Austin. The people of Chambers,
Galveston, Harris, Jefferson, and Montgomery counties deserve a senator who shows up,
listens, and fights for them. This district will always have my time, my attention, and my
honesty.”
Ligon also noted that he appears to be the only candidate to file for the special election to
complete the unexpired term of Senator Brandon Creighton, which would allow him to take
office sooner and begin representing the district in Austin.
“While we are excited about the opportunity to get to work serving this district as soon as
possible, our job is not finished,” Ligon said. “There will still be a Democrat challenger in the
November election for the next full term, and I am asking everyone who believes in the future of
this district to stay engaged, stay involved, and make sure you get out and vote in November.”
Ligon expressed deep appreciation to the leaders, volunteers, and supporters who helped
propel the campaign to victory.
“I am incredibly grateful to Governor Greg Abbott, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, and Senator
Brandon Creighton for their leadership and support,” Ligon said. “And to the countless
volunteers, supporters, and friends who knocked on doors, made calls, prayed for this
campaign, and encouraged me along the way, thank you. I could never thank you enough. This
victory belongs to you.”
Ligon said he looks forward to continuing to meet with residents across Senate District 4 and
building momentum toward the November election.
“I promise the people of this district that I will always fight for their safety, their families, and the
values that make Texas the greatest state in America. God bless Texas, and God bless Senate
District 4.”
