MONTGOMERY, Texas — Senator Brett Ligon was ceremonially sworn in today on the floor of the Texas Senate, surrounded by family members, friends, supporters, colleagues, and community leaders from across Senate District 4.

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick administered the oath of office during the ceremony, which marked an important milestone in Ligon’s service as the new state senator representing Chambers County and portions of Galveston, Harris, Jefferson, and Montgomery counties.

“Today was a truly special day, and Shannon and I are overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who joined us in Austin,” said Ligon. “It was an honor to take the oath of office on the Senate floor and to be surrounded by so many friends, family members, supporters, and colleagues who have been part of this journey.”

Chancellor Brandon Creighton, who represented Senate District 4 before Ligon, served as Master of Ceremonies for the Senate-floor celebration.

“I am especially grateful to Chancellor Brandon Creighton for serving as Master of Ceremonies and for the years of dedicated service and conservative leadership he provided to the people of Senate District 4,” Ligon said. “It is an honor to follow him in representing the communities we both call home.”

The ceremony included an invocation led by Austin and Kelley Ligon, the pledges led by Jadyn Salter and Gabriella Wright, a rendition of the National Anthem performed by Morgan Ligon, and a closing prayer delivered by Nathan Prater.

Ligon also thanked Michele Salter for her work coordinating the ceremony and ensuring that the day ran smoothly.

“Michele’s hard work, organization, and attention to detail helped make this celebration possible,” Ligon said. “Shannon and I are deeply grateful for everything she did to make the day so meaningful for our family and our guests.”

Miss Reveille X, the official mascot of Texas A&M University, also joined the celebration, adding a special touch of Aggie spirit in recognition of Ligon’s alma mater.

“Having Miss Reveille with us made an already memorable day even more special,” said Ligon. “As a proud member of the Aggie family, I was honored to have a little piece of Texas A&M join us on the Senate floor.”

Ligon expressed his appreciation to the many residents, local officials, law enforcement leaders, grassroots activists, volunteers, and longtime friends who traveled from Senate District 4 and across Texas to attend the ceremony.

“Most of all, I want to thank the many friends from Senate District 4 and beyond who made the trip to Austin to celebrate with us,” Ligon said. “Your friendship, support, prayers, and encouragement mean more than I can express. I am deeply honored by the trust the voters have placed in me, and I will work every day to represent them with integrity, strength, and conservative leadership.”

Ligon said he is prepared to continue working on behalf of the district’s families, businesses, law enforcement officers, educators, taxpayers, and local communities.

“This ceremony was a celebration, but it was also a reminder of the tremendous responsibility that comes with public office,” Ligon said. “I am ready to fight for safer communities, lower taxes, stronger infrastructure, responsible government, and the faith, family, and freedoms that make Texas exceptional.”
